Our Team in Mexico

Our team in Mexico understands the challenges at the border because all members live in or near the areas where we serve in San Luis Río Colorado, Sonora Mexico. We hire members of the community we serve to our team whenever possible. Our Mexico team understands poverty and as a result they have hearts of compassion and care and are passionate about serving others. Each member of the team brings their unique experience and expertise and together we are making a difference.

 

francisco Ortega

Co-Founder, Exec. Director

Francisco is a graduate of the Pacific Center for Theological Studies, and has dedicated part of his life to pastoring and philanthropy in Latin America. As co-founder, he is on the U.S. and Mexico team, and in addition, currently serves as Pastor at the First Reformed Baptist Church in Mexico. Francisco firmly believes that helping others is an unparalleled resource for sharing faith and God's love in a personal and passionate way, while making a difference in communities.

Angelica GarcÍa

Director of Mexico Operations

Angelica is a graduate of the Sonora University Center for Law Studies. Her duties at MdC include enrolling women in the program of work and discussing expectations, managing the production of materials, shipping and inventory management, maintaining proper records throughout the current programs, strategizing and implementing new products and ideas, as well as coordinating with the US teams involved with the social networks and the online store of MdC. She enjoys developing the products together with the women in the program until something new is created.

Lucy Silva

Director of Education

Lucy has a bachelor’s degree in language with a specialty in special education and inclusion. Prior to MdC, Lucy taught elementary and preschool age children for many years. From a young age, she has had a heart for service and has worked with many non-profit organizations. Lucy assists in managing staff and overseeing programs in Mexico. Serving and helping is something she loves to do.

MARIA MESTA

Lead Teacher

Maria graduated as an accountant and has been an English teacher for six years. Maria believes that each child deserves an education and she makes it her mission to make that happen. She is in charge of MdC’s education program and leads her team to make learning fun and engaging. Helping others is something she loves to do and she is committed to serving the community as long as God gives her life.

Génesis Barraza

Program Assistant

Génesis is in high school, and she has been with MdC since its beginning. Her role in the Super Saturday program is to support the nursery area where she likes to take care of children, especially babies. She likes to see the children happy, have fun, and she likes to support them so they can succeed. When she goes to college, she wants to study to become a teacher and be able to participate in the educational program at MdC.

Esmerelda Corral

Laundry and Cleaning

Esmeralda works at Mision de Caridad as laundry and cleaning staff. She washes the uniforms of our education program kids, and keeps clean all our building. She likes to be helpful. She is a financial support to her husband. Her future plan is to finish building her house.

Felicia Flora Cruz

Kitchen Assistant

Felicia works as kitchen assistant at MDC. She studied until third grade and likes hairdressing, she would like to get a cerficitate in this so in the future she can have her own beauty salon. She also likes to spend quality time with her children and that's the main reason she enjoys working at MDC, this work gives her the opportunity to watch out and take care of her children while working, also she feels thankful with MDC since they really helped her children improve in school.

DIANA ESCOTO

Cooking Team

Diana started as a volunteer but has developed in several areas, such as the kitchen. She now works in the registration area on Super Saturdays since there is a large attendance. She believes that it is important to have good coordination, and registration is the perfect place to achieve that. 

Rosa Isela Escoto

Community Liason

Rosa, “Rosita” has three children: Alejandra, Antonio, and Genesis. She works in administration at a local newspaper and also part-time for MdC. Rosita has been with MdC from the beginning, focusing in the area of registration and family relations. Rosita has a heart for the families we serve and enjoys supporting MdC’s projects and programs. She is the friendly face that families first see at most of our programs.

gisell figueroa

Early Childhood Education

Gisell has a degree in Psychopedagogical Counseling and is also a graduate of the Instituto Interdenominacional Cristo para las Naciones Monterrey where she completed her Bachelor's Degree in Theology and Practical Ministerial Career.  At MdC, she works as a preschool teacher, is a part of the daycare team, and supports the activities of the Super Saturday program. She enjoys the teaching-learning process with the children, but most of all seeing the constant improvement in the lives of each one of the people who attend MdC.

Antonio GODINEZ

Feed-A-Family Team Member

Antonio is currently in college studying International Trade. His role at MdC is in the despensas team making and delivering groceries. He also helps to set up tables, chairs, run errands, and with anything delivering groceries. He enjoys supporting women and children who need help improving their lifestyle and being able be part of the change.

UnerVI GONZALEZ

Photographer

Unervi has a degree in Communication Sciences. He has participated as the head photographer since the beginning of MdC. He has captured many of the most important moments of our organization. He has participated in medical fairs, celebrations, and important events. He is also the photographer of our bag and embroidery programs. He manages to transmit the love and happiness of people with each of his photographs

Carlos HERNÁNDEZ

Feed-A-Family Team Member

Carlos is a member of our feed-a-family grocery program. He helps to assemble and distribute groceries to over 50 families each month. He enjoys supporting the community and seeing how MdC is a source of nourishment and blessing for families. Being a part of the grocery program has helped him value his home and family. 

FERNANDO HernÁNDEZ

Flexible Team Member

Fernando’s role is to assist with Super Saturdays. He helps with the back-end work cleaning, setting up the tables and chairs before the program begins, and at the end of the day, he helps clean the tables and chairs to put them in the storage. He enjoys supporting the community and being part of MdC.

Carmen Julián

Teacher

María studied in high school as a computer technician. She has two children and joined the MdC team as an educational assistant. Maria lives in the community where we serve and previously worked at CONAFE high school teaching children in another city. “I am very thankful to belong to this team for doing altruistic work.”

Dania lopez

Teaching Assistant

Dania is one of our adolescent workers who lives in the MdC community. Dania was forced to drop out of middle school, although it’s her dream to one day graduate from high school. Dania likes working with children and is an assistant in MdC’s preschool program. She enjoys helping children learn and advance in their growth to be prepared for school someday. In her free time, Danya enjoys cooking, drawing and art.

Teresa Belen Merlo González

Preschool Teacher

Teresa Belen is a preschool teacher who loves being around children: talking to them and playing with them. She started working at MdC because of her love for working with children and feels sure God brought her to MdC for a purpose.

Sarai MEZA

Teacher

Sarai is studying for her Bachelor’s Degree in teaching English as a second language. She also studied the career of laboratory technician during high school. Sarai works in MdC’s Education Programs teaching and supporting several different subjects. Serving and teaching are what she loves the most and plans to do her whole life.

IvanNa Mora

Teacher

Ivanna is studying dentistry in the city of Mexicali, Baja California, at the Universidad Autonoma de Durango (UAD). At MdC, she teaches children how to have good oral hygiene. She instructs them through activities so that brushing teeth becomes a habit. “At MdC, I enjoy seeing children progress in their learning and seeing the community among all of us grow stronger as we get to know each other and learn together.”

MICHELL MORA

Flexible Team Member

Michelle is currently studying physiotherapy at the Universidad Autonoma de Durango in Mexicali, Baja California. Her role at MdC is to take pictures on Super Saturdays for social media and work at medical fairs as a medical assistant. Michell’s main aspiration is to be able to help others in the future with her studies, and she likes to see the smiles in every photo because she feels a part of their happiness.

Fernanda Yareli Mosqueda

Secretary

Fernanda graduated as Innovation and Development Engineering. She works at Mision de Caridad as Secretary. She is in the front desk giving information to new families that want to be part of our programs. She likes to spend quality time with people and enjoys helping others. She likes to works at MDC becuase she believes in their mission, and feels good to know her work can help several families.

Gardenia Noriega

Community Liason

Gardenia enjoys working with MdC in her role as a woman and family counselor. During the week, Gardenia visits the families in the MdC program to get to know them better and offers support to meet their needs. On Saturdays, she enjoys delivering seminars on various topics that help women manage their emotions and other areas where women struggle. Gardenia is focused on teaching women how to use the Word of God as a guide in their daily living and as a way to provide emotional freedom.

Juan Paramo

Flexible Team Member

Juan Paramo is a student at Conalep high school, where he studies refrigeration and air conditioning maintenance. At MdC, his main focus is serving as a leader in our Education Programs. He enjoys teaching the kids in P.E. and other engaging activities. “I really like my role at MdC. I never imagined I would be a teacher before MdC gave me the opportunity and I am very grateful for that.”

Hilary Perez

Kitchen Assistant

Hilary just had the opportunity to finish her elementary but she likes to be a helpful person. She works at Mision de Caridad as kitchen assistant, helping to serve meals in all the programs and cleaning the utensiles used for cooking. Her future plan is to finish her studies and have a degree.

Monseratt PErez

Kitchen Assistant

Monseratt is one of our adolescent workers who live in the MdC community. She dropped out of school after elementary school to help support her family. She enjoys spending time with the children in the program and would like to go back to school some day and finish her studies.

david rios, jr.

General Assistant

David Jr. is an IT engineer with a focus on computer systems. For the past eight years, he has been serving with various missionary groups. David supports each of the MdC programs in the areas of purchasing, maintenance, helping with logistics, and supplying any other needs that arise. Serving others is something he enjoys very much.

Génesis sanchez

Program Assistant

Génesis is in high school, and in the afternoons, she attends English classes. Her role at MdC is to support the preschool teachers during Super Saturdays. She enjoys supporting in this area because she likes working with the children.

Aurora Santiago

Embroidery Teacher

Aurora is a mother of three children who lives in the community that MdC serves. She is a skilled embroiderer and teaches women her craft in our Women’s Work Program. Aurora is a hard worker and also cleans the MdC offices. “I am very happy to work for MdC. I enjoy what I do very much and I am grateful for the opportunity.”

Brenda Silvas

Nutritionist

Brenda studied Nutrition at Sonora State University. At MdC, she teaches nutrition and gives seminars to the women. She enjoys teaching them how to eat a healthy and balanced diet. She aspires for personal growth, to develop skills in the community nutritional field such as nutritional intervention programs or strategies to improve nutritional status, as well as professional and personal learning. 

GABRIELA TEJEDA

Cooking Team

Gabriela studied up until elementary school and lives in the Casa Esperanza community. Gabriela’s role is to keep Casa Esperanza clean and organized. Gabi likes working at MdC because it is a friendly work environment. Gabi also participates in the Women’s Work Program as a bag maker. She is eager to learn more and is always willing to serve in whatever way MdC needs. Gabi is motivated to work hard and to do a good job.

Graciela Valles

Childcare Assistant

At MdC, Graciela is in charge of taking care of the babies in the nursery, and give them love and care while their mothers work freely in MdC’s workshops.

Angelica Velasco

Exercise Coach

Angelica has a degree as a bioalimentary process engineer. She joined the MdC team to lead our exercise program and enjoys motivating women to improve their health. “I am very happy and grateful to belong to the great work that MdC does. I really enjoy being part of the MdC projects.” Angelica wants to continue her education to better understand food engineering.
