Day 1: Mexico. Less than 12 hours and I feel like I have been here for days. I will divide this into a few pieces for easier reading:

Corona virus: So far, people don't seem overly bothered by the virus here. It is nothing like in Boston. People are out, shaking hands and it is business as usual, but the government is starting to get the word out, and the first major change will be the closing of schools starting Friday. When we came into the country, for the first time ever my bags were searched, and they were offering a squirt from a large bottle of hand sanitizer and a pamphlet about the virus.

Shelters: Francisco, Everett and I will start visiting shelters on Thursday. Given the potential for a significant crisis here, we are going to put together Corona kits for 4-5 shelters. We expect the cost to be $125-$150 per kit and I am going to start a gofundme to raise the money. We will also be giving out the books, clothing from HannaAndersson and bracelets from Park Street School.

Property: the picture on this post is Francisco and I standing on what we expect will be the future site of our shelter for women and children (Casa Esperanza). I restrained my self from dancing around the property, so just gave a few skips, but it was hard to contain my joy after months of failed attempts. We are still working with the attorney's, but before I leave we will have put down a deposit. More to come.

Well, if you made it this far, I appreciate it. I will try to post daily and thanks for your efforts in helping refugees. Now the work really begins!

Please pray for our safety as we venture into the unknown
