Day 2: Jean in Mexico

Corona Boxes for Shelters

Corona Boxes for Shelters

Day 2: Have not stopped moving today. Woke up at 4 am to work on making website changes (check it out https://mdcardad.org) and worked on my actual paid job. Then we spent the entire day preparing for shelter visits.

Corona kits: We went to 10 stores (no joke) to get what we could find for the 5 shelters we will visit over the next several days. 2 quick facts - Mexicans also stockpile toilet paper and there is no hand sanitizer to be found anywhere in this town. We purchased medicines for adults and children, throat drops, antibacterial cleaner, gloves, kid thermometers and alcohol (in place of hand sanitizer). Tomorrow we will visit another city to finish the boxes. You can still donate at https://bit.ly/3dece34 to help offset the cost.

Clothing sorting: My son Everett and I spent the afternoon and evening non-stop sorting all of the clothes from Hanna Andersson and divided them by gender and size into over 120 different individual string backpacks with a toothbrush (Thanks Board member Joseph Lee). I hope we have perfected the distribution because it is so difficult to distribute these in an ordered way and make sure they get into the hands of the kids. Tomorrow we will organize all the books that were purchased.

We discovered that too much media and so many confusing messages play tricks on your head. So many times today Everett and I looked at each other and questioned if a dry throat, a runny nose, or pain in our bodies is the Coronavirus. But we knew, the dry throat is because we have not drunk any water today. Our nose only runs when we eat hot sauce and our bodies are sore from harder than usual beds, long hours bending over clothes, and fatigue from travel. Please pray for us and that we will continue to trust God and not worry.
